The Philippine Society of Vascular Medicine and the PHA Council on Stroke and Peripheral Vascular Diseases will hold its 10th Joint Annual Convention on April 18-19, 2013 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center. The theme of this years' convention is "Approach to Vascular Problems and Vascular Updates." The Scientific Committee has prepared interesting topics and invited an array of speakers who will share their expertise to increase our awareness in the diagnosis and management of vascular diseases.

Witnessing this gathering of experts would be general practitioners, medical residents, internists, fellows in training, cardiologists, neurologists, vascular surgeons and members of the Philippine Society of Vascular Medicine and PHA Council on Stroke and Peripheral Vascular Diseases.

The PMA Board of Governors last Feb. 9, 2013, has adopted a new membership data form, to be accomplished by all PMA members. This will update the membership status of all memnbers.

Computerization is in progress in the PMA, and information gathered from all members would be invaluable help in the categorization and classification of physicians in the country.

The Preventive Cardiology Division of the Philippine Heart Center will be holding the first Cardiometabolic Summit (CMS 2013) on April 11 to 12, 2013 at the Dr. Avenilo P. Aventura Hall of the Medical Arts Building.

The CMS 2013 aims to provide clinicians with the confidence and knowledge to immediately impact lives by preventing the development of cardiovascular disease in patients at risk. This program is dedicated to translating clinical research on the reduction of the various cardiovascular risk factors into practical and targeted education that can easily be applied to real world clinical scenarios.

The program will tackle hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, obesity and renal disease. The discussions will be led by well respected health professionals with expertise in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, renal disease and obesity. Through educational sessions enhanced with applicable best practice recommendations, attendees will be provided the vital tools necessary to turn the tide of the cardiovascular disease epidemic.
