Philippine Heart Association (PHA) President Dr. Eugene Reyes administers the oath of office of Dr. Alisa Bernan, chair of the PHA Committee on Research at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria Hotel.
Dr. Bernan's appointment officially starts today. Witnessing the oathtaking rites are other PHA Board of Directors Romeo Cruz (VP for Finance), Dr. Helen Ong-Garcia (director), Dr. Saturnino Javier (immediate past president), Dr. Alex Junia (secretary), Dr. Joel Abanilla (vice president), and Dr. Raul Lapitan (treasurer).
The posting of Dr. Bernan at the helm of the Committee on Research will beef up the PHA's ambitious research undertakings. Research is the flagship project of the Reyes administration. Dr. Bernan is currently a master candidate for the degree of Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. She is working on data collection for her thesis entitiled "Validation of the MacNew
Heart Disease Health-Related Quality of Life among Filipinos with Acute Coronary Syndrome".
A past president of PHA Southern Mindanao-Davao, it was during her two-year presidency from 2008 to 2010 that the Chapter achieved remarkable feats.
