Guidelines for SUBMISSION of Abstract and Manuscript

Responsibilities of Authors
A. Submit all abstracts and manuscripts electronically.
a. The abstract and manuscript MUST NOT CONTAIN NAMES OF AUTHORS AND INSTITUTION
b. Submit both in WORD and PDF format
B. Each paper submission must have the following supporting documents/acknowledgement:
1. COVER LETTER: should be submitted AS A SEPARATE DOCUMENT with each research paper submission.
IMPORTANT: A cover letter SHOULD NOT be a part of the submitted manuscript. It MUST contain the following information:
a. Title of the Research Paper
b. Category of the paper you are submitting it to - Analytical Research, Descriptive Research, Meta-analysis, Case Report and Most Outstanding Research in Cardiology (for PHA Fellows Only)
c. All Author Information, including First name, middle initial, and last names, contact numbers, email address
d. Name of institution.
e. Statement that the paper has been reviewed and approved by the respective cardiology department and the institutional ethics review committee.
f. Signatures by the primary author and noted by an authorized signatory of the institution - Cardiology section chief, Training officer or Research Division Head.
g. The PHA reserves the right to send manuscripts to the Philippine Journal of Cardiology for review and possible publication in the Philippine Journal of Cardiology (PJC). Include written consent in the cover letter.
2. ABSTRACT AND MANUSCRIPT:
a. Authors must ensure that the study was conducted ethically and approved by an institutional ethics review committee.
b. Manuscripts must not currently be under review at another journal.
c. The research paper should have been reviewed and approved by the training institution's research coordinator or training officer.
d. Prepare abstract and manuscript for anonymous review by removing author's names and affiliations. DELETE the authors and the institution's name in your research title or the abstract and full manuscript to maintain anonymity. Page 2 of 3.
e. Double-space all manuscripts, including text, headings, abstract, quotations and references. Tables may be in a single space.
f. Please use a 12-point Arial font.
g. Write the abstract in a structured format with distinct, labelled sections like INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS, AND DISCUSSION for rapid comprehension in 300 OR LESS word count, double space excluding title and keywords. Please do not put figures or tables in the abstract.
h. For the Francisco Tangco Young Investigators Award (YIA), one of the co-authors MUST be a Fellow of the PHA who is in good standing.
3. DECLARATION OF ORIGINALITY. Authors must ensure that the paper submitted is their original work. Submit a declaration of originality in word format together with the abstract.
C. DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION: There is a separate deadline for submitting abstracts and manuscripts.
a. For the ABSTRACT: on or before midnight (11:59 pm), February 9, 2024.
b. For manuscripts: on or before midnight (11:59 pm), March 8, 2024.
c. Only those who have submitted the abstracts shall be allowed to present the entire manuscript.
d. Email: Submit all abstracts and manuscripts to the official email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We will not entertain abstracts and manuscripts submitted to other PHA email addresses.
D. Please follow instructions. Revisions to each paper are allowed, provided it is resubmitted before the deadline. Modification is not permitted after the deadline has passed.
E. It is the author's responsibility to ensure complete submission. The PHA secretariat will not be held responsible for informing authors of missing or incomplete documents.
F. We will review only the papers with COMPLETE SUBMISSIONS
G. All research submissions have five categories:
1. Analytical Research for the Francisco Tangco Young Investigator's Award (YIA),
2. Descriptive Research
3. Meta-analysis
4. Case Report, and
5. The Most Outstanding Research in Cardiology.
H. Peer reviewers will evaluate all eligible research submissions. We will choose the five (5) papers with the highest score per Category for oral presentation.
I. We will choose ten (10) papers for a moderated poster presentation. Page 3 of 3
